After Ever After by Jordan Sonnenblick

Meet Jeffrey Alper, "That Boy Who Had Cancer." But Jeffrey has been in remission for five years and instead of dealing with chemo therapy is trying to figure out eighth grade. Between his best friend Tad (fellow cancer survivor), this new girl Lindsey (who seems to really like Jeffrey), his older brother running off to play drums in Africa, and trying to pass his math class, he's got plenty to worry about. Thank goodness Jeffrey has a tremendous sense of humor to keep him going!

After Ever After is about what happens in the years following cancer treatment; dealing with the after effects of the chemo drugs and the emotional stress on your family while still trying to have a normal life. And for those of you who've read Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie, you'll remember Jeffrey back when all the cancer stuff was going on.

Pastworld by Ian Beck

Imagine if you could travel to Victorian London for a vacation, no time travel involved, just a short ride on an airship. Everyone would dress and talk like it was the late 1800's, food would cost one shilling and sixpence and there would be no cell phones, computers, or electricity. In Pastworld you can do just that, thanks to the Buckland Corporation. They've created a theme park of sorts that exactly duplicates Victorian London. But when a serial killer, the Fantom, begins murdering residents and tourists, the excitement increases to dangerous levels.

A wonderful cast of characters, a little bit of science fiction, a thrilling mystery, and some great historical elements combine for an exciting novel in Pastworld by Ian Beck

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

Finn is a prisoner. In the world of Incarceron everyone is a prisoner, no one enters and no one escapes. But Finn knows he's from the Outside, he has painful seizures where memories of another world, a world outside, overtake him. When a crystal key finds its way to Finn he knows this could be his only way out.

Claudia is the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron. Trapped in her own kind of prison, Claudia suspects a treacherous plot involving her father and the Queen that took the life of her betrothed, Prince Giles. Determined to find out what happened, Claudia breaks into her father's study and finds a crystal key, a key that could answer all her questions.

Complex and brilliantly written, Incarceron is a fast paced adventure from the depths of a malevolent prison to the outside Realm, a world with its own dark side. I'm already declaring Incarceron one of my top 10 of 2010! Watch for the sequel, Sapphique, coming January 2011.

Heist Society by Ally Carter

From Ally Carter, author of I'd Tell You I Love You, but then I'd have to Kill You, comes Heist Society, the action packed story of Katarina Bishop...art thief.

All Katarina wanted was a normal life, boarding school, friends, bad cafeteria food; she's finished with her father's life as an art thief. That is until she gets kicked out of school for a crime she didn't commit and finds herself planning the biggest heist ever in an effort to save her father's life.

Smart and funny, Heist Society has a great cast of characters, exotic European locales, and plenty of excitement!
